Occupy Kokomo is a local group which identifies with the national Occupy Wall Street protests and which opposes corruption in banks, corporations and government. According to their group consensus, “Occupy Kokomo does not advocate illegal activity, except with regard to civil disobedience for the defense of the exploited.”

Part of being an American is the freedom to peaceably assemble and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances, as expressed in the First Amendment to the Constitution of the United States.
Occupy Wall Street (OWS) members who take part in peaceful protest assemblies are participating in legally-protected activities.

On the other hand, OWS members who break local ordinances to ‘camp out’ ad infinitum in public parks are confiscating property that does not belong to them, and that endeavor is not a legally-protected pursuit. ...
