    Default Craig's List Hoax

Im an avid fan of Craig's List. I've purchased and sold lots of items. But there has been several scams of late that one should be careful about.

If you sell an item. And the buyer purchases the item..for example ..$100. Out of state guy will send you a check for $1000. When you contact the buyer to tell them of the mistake..they tell you to go ahead..deposit the check ..take your $100 and send the item and the change.

WAIT!!! The check is no good and your out the remainder.

Moral of the story..always use your head and best judgement when buying and selling online.
If 4 out of 5 people SUFFER from diarrhea... does that mean that one enjoys it?

My sister lost a $200 deposit on an apartment scam thru Craigs List. There are many unscrupulous people out there.
You guys pair up in groups of three then line up in a circle.

This scam has been going on for a few years now and there is many different variations of it. The ones I have had will always want to send a shipping company to pick up the item and the extra money they are sending is to cover the shipping cost and you MUST send it back fast so they can pay the shpping company.

These scams are usually pretty easy to pick out. If you receive a e-mail and it is not specific to what you have for example it will say "the item you have for sale" instead of "the stove you have for sale". The email will also have very bad english and broken sentences.

If you want to have some fun have them send you the check. I have 2 or 3 of them laying around from these idiots. I have some items on CL right now and one sent me a $9000 check for a $3000 item. LOL

Let's see now....with my bogus ids and perfectly counterfeited bank documents I think I could cash that $9k check. I'll give you $1500 for the check.

Yes you could. It is very legit looking check with watermark and all. I see no reason why a bank would think it was not legit.
