Have you gone and passed a CPAT test? Have you gone and done anything to show you what is actually done in a firefighters job? Or are you just basing this off what you see from the outside looking in with no true knowledge of the job. Every job I have had in life has looked easier to people not doing the job than it is to the people doing it. I bet your job looks like a cake job from the outside also. I can say I would do alot of jobs that pay more than I make. That doesnt make me qualified to do them. |

Interviewer - So why should we hire you? Original Poster - Well I know that guy over there and if he can do it I can. Hell I will even do it for less than him. Interview - What qualifications do you have? Original Poster - I already told you. If he can do it so can I. Interviewer - Sorry were not going to be able to hire you since you have no qualifications. Original Poster - Just like ever job. Its only cause the other guy new someone. Being more serious now. If you wont even take the basic steps it takes to become a firefighter. Then dont say you would do the job. |

you must pass an agility test, written exam, a physical and blood work. You now also have to have a paramedic certification (or so i have heard) to even get an interview and not everyone does.

The agaility test is the CPAT test. Which is a national test and not just a test run by the fire dept anymore. The written test and physicals are done through places in Indy. I dont think paramedic is required yet cause the fire dept hasnt become a ALS service yet. I am sure if someone is looking to be hired whenever they stop cutting jobs and adding jobs a paramedic cert would be a big postive to have.
