People are busy running around the halls in a hurried pace to constantly appear busy to avoid the wrath of the current Sheriff.

During the normal day most want to get in and out of the building as fast as possible. But hey who’s that guy coming towards me? Why its Major Rogers, ok, relax I tell myself he’s a decent guy, he’s not seen very much and not a very personably fellow. What’s this? He’s taking time to shake everyone’s hands and I don’t believe it, he is smiling. He slowly approaches me, normally he could care less if I’m here. He holds out his hand, smiles and asks me “how’s your family doing”. I answer his question and we shake hands as he move on to the next person.

I stand totally bewildered then I snap to my senses and realize he has announced he is running for Sheriff. So now I understand why he showing up with his happy, I really care poker face on. It’s all about convincing me to forget about Talbert and how he offers a new improved Sheriffs department with the end of Talbert’s term.

I deliver some paperwork and clear over hear another person trying a sales pitch for Sgt. Ferguson on two captive correction officers. Oh the promises that are made for a vote and they are never fulfilled immediately comes to my mind. I make my escape and head for the exit only to be greeted by a senior ranking officer. He slaps on his happy boy face, shakes my hand and wishes me a good day. What? Huh? He normally could care less! Then I remember, he has been sucking up to one of the candidates in hopes of a Majors job.

I safely make it out of the political jungle to the safety of the street. I then stop and give thanks that I don’t have to assume the role playing of Jekyll and Hyde to get people to support me. I’m just satisfied being a servant of the people and focus on doing my job rather than putting on a false persona as these people do..

The irony is Marty Talbert was banned from the jail while he was on ISP and running for office by then Major Dave McKinney. Now Talbert allows his boys to roam the halls making promises and its ok!?!? Also we have all noticed you are right about Hargrove, if he keeps it up he's going to need chap stick. Sorry Hargrove we are not buying into Im your buddy, vote for Rogers plan. We know the real you!

    Default I wont be swayed!!!

I for one will not be swayed or bought by any of the candidates. I for one will take the time to study each one and what they have to say and what they have done in the past. I for one will not be led down a rosey path by their new found love of their fellow man. I for one will vote for the very best qualified candidate, regardless of which department he worked for or which candidate he last supported. I will not give special preferance to state troopers over local cops, I will do my best to make an informed decision...I swear!

I asked a while back for some information to help me make a decision, wasn't very successful. So I began talking to local law enforcement, media, attorneys and gathered as much inside scoop as I can. I am not endorsing anyone, just stating what I found out. Vincent apparently has a shady personal past, Rogers a nice guy but a bootlicker to Marty and not much of a change. Ferg, a storm chaser who pats himself on the back. Everling, not experienced enough. The only negatize about Mike Tarr is that he is a trooper, but I have been told he is not a typical trooper and is a genuine good guy. Unless anyone offers me a reason, I will support Tarr.

Default That may be reason enough

In talking to law enforcement not only here but in surrounding counties the general feeling is, "NO MORE TROOPERS". The men in brown apparently have bad feelings towards the men in blue. I dont know of a single county where a trooper is running that he is getting traction with the deputies. That includes all counties around Howard, so it says something. I dont know Tarr, and I dont know if the deputies do either (which is an issue all in itself) But the feeling is, no troopers this cycle.

I have been a county employee for several years and I can say the potential list sucks. Out of all the candidates so far Tarah is the only one with any credibility! He's not you normal trooper who has ISP sewn into ther undies. He thinks for himself and is nothing like Master Marty. He is one trooper I would vote for. All I know everyone will sooooooo glad when Master Marty his the doors on the south side of the SD for the last time, good ridence to the worse 8 years ever of no direction and instability from a so called leader.

Default Not a real star among them

I know most of the candidates personally, I have worked with all. I like most of them, they are all pretty decent guys. The main problem I see is that they are all ok, not great. There isnt a real front runner among them, and none stick out as better than the rest. I just dont see a super star among this group. I am aware of the counties around us,and who they are running, and they all seem to have a clear front runner or star, we just dont. So this will be a very heavily contested election with it being anyones guess who will win. I do hope that the candidates keep it clean and just talk about their own credentials, dont tell us the bad stuff on the other guys, just the reason we should vote for you.

I hope your right because Vincents history of womanizing and other antics will be enough to fill several pages on this forum. Then if you take into consideration the number of days he was suspended and what he was suspended for you would create another several pages. When they file in January the magic key opens the secret closet doors for all to see and the facts will be printed in the Prespective. The only glimmer of hope I see here is the fact Talbert will be gone!

If the public would have seen through Talbert I am super cop mind set and review his past, he would never been voted in. The ONLY reason he won was he used the ISP name.

    Default Will that work again??

With troopers running for sheriff in every county around, can that "Im a trooper" thing work again?? It does seem to have worked in the past for many of the counties in Indiana....
