    Happy New Year.
There are a million possible scenarios. I can’t imagine Vincent winning much less putting Marty back in a position of authority, they are like oil and water. I like Richey but he’s very immature, maybe his dad (Dick Ferguson KPD) would consider running.

I'll vote for whoever gets rid of Ree Moon. Even if its Rudy. She is a waste of flesh in her current position and needs to go back to the jail where a good little matron needs to be. But she was never even a good matron and is nothing more than a political favor to Ron Harrell. Sorry Ree but the truth hurts.

I overheard Marty say that if Rogers gets elected, he will be his major. If that is the case, Anybody but Rogers for sheriff. Get Marty out of the department.

Sounds like a lie to me! Steve Rogers is the ONLY thing that has held the Sheriffs department together and given it a shred of credibility. Rogers has ran interference on a daily basis for Talbert since he took office and spends a lot of time undoing Talbert's mistakes.

I know Steve well enough to say at this point he isn't sure about running and if he did he would want to wipe the Talbert plague off of the Sheriffs department. Don't be fooled by Steve's quiet demeanor, he knows when to cut his loses and select a qualified Major who can do the job and Talbert isn't that person!

Until Vincent is out of that jail nothing will change. He treats us terrible and now is making us take vacation in 4 day blocks. So what if I have 14 days? Will I lose 2 vacation days so it fits into a 4 day block? What about my holidays? My personal days? Sorry Harold but I'll just call off sick if I want a day off. Nothing you can do about that. This is a huge mistake and the county will pay for your stupid mistakes as usual. I'm tired of Lt. Porky screwing with us too. Put her in a unit where she belongs and let Terry run the jail.

You better get used to Vincent being in charge. He's has been working the public for the last 3 years making friends, political connections and grooming himself to run for Sheriff. He's pushing all the right buttons and making friends in the political arena who will endorse him. This is the same technique Marty used to win.

Do I think Harold would make a good Sheriff? No I don't. Seems that under Sheriff Beatty, Vincent received a major suspension. The Sheriffs race will be a toss up and like when Marr ran in the Sheriffs race, who ever expected a underdog to win.

Harold Vincent Jail commander and Major Steven Rogers.

Has anyone got any input, good or bad on these guys they would like to share. The election is 2010 but most of them will be starting the ground work for a campaign during 2009. So far I am hearing a lot of negative comments about six of these guys. The two I'm hearing the most positive things about is Major Steven Rogers and ISP Mike Tarrah.

Hopefully this time around the public will not fall for a lame sales pitch as Talbert used and the public will take a hard look a their past problems and credibility.
I don’t see one person on this list that I would want to work for or consider Sheriff material. The last three Sheriffs (four if you include McKinney’s temp. Sheriff) have been atrocities, between Beatty’s ghost employment and letting Fisher strong arm employees to Marr's theft of money to rebuild his girlfriends home. Of course we don’t want to forget Old Marty boy and his goal to make over the SD to be like ISP. Hey Marty did Santa bring you some bullets for Christmas? We all remember that fiasco.

This community needs new decent leadership at the Sheriffs Department and at Kokomo PD. How can we expect our local law enforcement to operate efficiently under such constant political stress?

The biggest thing is that the residents of Howard County should take the time to talk to deputies, Correction staff and civilian staff for their opinions & feelings about the candidates. The sad part is anyone can run for Sheriff and you don't have to have any law enforcement experience. So that means anyone from a Delphi worker to your paperboy can file to run for the office......................

The public bases their votes most of the time on word of mouth and the candidates background. Recently the candidate seemed to be picked just because he worked for Indiana State Police and he was out in the public full time promising the voters change. I believe the public voted for Marty because the Sheriffs department was rebounding from all the negative press about Jerry Marr and the misappropriations of department funds for personal use. I remember when Dave McKinney tossed Marty out of the jail and banned him because the deputies were complaining about him running down the departments administration. But now the tables are turned Marty has zero tolerance for such antics...........

Bottom line HCSD like KPD is tainted by nasty politics and favoritism. I'm sad to say that tradition will continue because it is the accepted practice. Lets hope the guys and gals at the Sheriffs department will finally get a decent Sheriff this time around.............

Does Brad Bagwell want to carry Marty's torch into the next term? He already has experience participating in traffic stops. Even has the lights and siren.

Wow, now that a scary thought, Bagwell as Sheriff............... I'd say Howard County has nothing to worry about, because they showed him last election just what they thought of him..
