    Default Tom Dinardo for sheriff

For better or for worse Tom Dinardo will be the next sheriff in Howard County. All I can say is have your shoes shined boys. We put up with his antics at KPD now you guys can have him.

Do we want to elect another "double dipper" like Dinardo would become? It would cost taxpayers in the long run. I am just asking for opinions???

I think he/she means drawing a pension from city and county. That would be a burden to the community in the long run.

    Default Does it really matter???

I have tried to figure out how someone who is getting a pension somewhere else and then becomes sheriff really hurts us, I cant get it. KPD pension is PERF which is paid back from contributions while the worker is employeed, and he is getting it even if he isnt sheriff. We pay what we pay to the new sheriff, even if he does or doesnt have a pension from somewhere else. So how does this cost us???? Seems like an empty argument to me. If the best qualifed candidate is a retired officer (and they usually are) then why wouldnt we want them??? The whole premis behind a retired officer being sheriff is that they bring experience that can only be found by working in law enforcement for many years. Im not endorsing dinardo or anyone else, I just question the mentality of the question. Seems small and petty.

Also keep in mind that if Dinardo would make Sheriff his Major will be either Larry Shipman of Harold Vincent. I learned from the past that a good Major will make or break the Sheriff.

Talbert is a classic example. If it wasn't for Major Steve Rogers, Talbert would have fallen flat on his face by now!!!!!!!

Maybe I missed something.....at least this guy had some ethics and you know where he stands. What do you have against him?

Ethics? What about that protective order he had against him? Great ethics.
