I dont think it should be a picnic for inmates but responsible people ( which you clearly are not one) obey the laws to prevent the county and taxpayers from being slapped with a lawsuit. Take a look at the recent Welkers situation it cost the county 50K and he is still wearing a badge, which show the system is broken. Vincent, when in the office and not out chasing women or his newest one who works at the CJC is as responsible as the Sheriff. Vincent and Buyers do what the want to and Marty dont really care.

The CO's dont belong under the merit system and Ferg who is know for talking out of both sides of his mouth will not make it any better. He's always done a lot of talking and very little follow through on any project he started. Its time for new blood and Ferguson isnt the answer!
Wow Spoken like a true kiss ass to the Talbert regime. No actually I was not fired I took a position in the private sector for better pay and benefits Sorry to let you down on your rant. Can't argue with you on the fact that it should not be a picnic out there for the inmates but whenever a guard enforces the rules legitimately, and the inmates is mad about it, just because they have some pull with Marty and Byers doesn't mean that the guard should be punished for doing his or her job like it has and probably still is being done.

No more ISP freaks in the HCSD please! Enough is enough, havent the last six years been enough already? What if he turns out to be a Talbert clone?

Default Probably best candidate to date.

Short of a new candidate that we are unaware of, this is the best one. No one is thrilled with all these troopers running for sheriff, but you have to look at each race individualy. To date troopers in Cass,Wabash,Miami, Tipton and Howard (just to name close counties) have indicated they want to run for sheriff. That is in and of itself a problem. But in Howard County we have such weak candidates that Mike Tarrah is the best one. Maybe someone else will still come out, someone with better education, training, background then the ones we have seen. We still need someone with experience outside law enforcemnt, but where are they?

As a former Corrections Officer, I would love to see the SD adopt a Merit System for them. Many people do not understand the favortism that comes into play inside the jail. Fact is, you can come to work, put in a good day i.e. getting everything done you are supposed to and more, then go home. But if you don't stop to help a supervisor do something so they can get an extra break, example: stop and answer a phone in the book-in area, that could come back to haunt you when they decide to get in a mood for Head Hunting. Very trivial things add up around that place, so if you do one thing wrong or not the way someone else does it, it starts to add up against you. A Merit System could keep most of the good ones before they decide to leave under their circumstances where the ones who should be terminated just lay in their bed knowing they are not fit for the job.

This one speaks volumes, let's elect from within the department. That is, if there is no job promised to Marty Allmighty!

You can be assured that Ferguson will not have Talbert anywhere around, I think that is well known. It has been said that Rogers will repay Talbert with a job if he gets in. That is politics as we have become all to familiar with, It's time for some changes.
