The word ‘Justice’.Note: This is the first of a series of articles which will be released in the next few days or weeks.
All of the information presented has been verified by at least two sources and we believe is absolutely factual.
Bear with us as NIK presents this troubling story...
It seems like such a simple little word… uttered by large and sometimes diverse populations in times of strife.
The root of Justice is ‘Order’… that is, our World has a proper Order of things and that Order needs to be observed and enforced unless we wish our societies to fall into ‘disorder’…. which of course creates ‘chaos’… a disturbance of ‘order’.
Someone who reviewed this little article prior to posting exclaimed “Deep, NIK… really deep… but what does this talk of order and justice have to do with the average Joe going about their lives without a real thought about what might be ‘just’ or not.”
My reply was that the concept lives in every one of us. Many times, we don’t recognize it… but it’s there.
Every time you are driving an automobile and stop for a traffic light or stop sign, you’re being part of justice. Every time you say ‘excuse me’ when sneezing in public or making your way down a busy isle in the market, you’re being part of justice. Every time you pay your taxes, resist not parking in an empty handicapped parking spot, or remind a cashier you got too much change… you’re being part of justice.
Justice is the natural order of things in any society that works together so that all of us within it can live normal, safe, comfortable lives.
As the United States grew to what we’ve become, it was fairly obvious not all those among us preferred justice and order. Because of this, our body of law was established… and with it ways in which our Order is preserved.
Enter the modern day Police Department.
In many ways, a local Police agency is the only recognizable symbol of order, and justice, and fairness that we ever note. When we’re in trouble, or victimized, or see others who may be… we call the Police.
We expect the Police to maintain Justice… and Order… in our World.
… and so, at last, I’m brought to the real topic of this post.
The Kokomo Police Department… your Police Department… is suffering the consequences of years where politicians meddled, Officers diddled, and you became ever more weary.
What happens when you cannot trust our very symbol of Justice, a cop who answers your call for help?
We'll answer that question in the next part of this article...
