Looks like Howard County and Kokomo residents can be glad that Tipton got the Getrag Plant. Now taxpayers down there have spent all that EDIT money on a plant that is not going to open. That could have been Howard County tax dollars. With Chrysler out of the deal and lawsuits flying, that plant will just become one more eye sore on US 31. Hopefully too this will change Chrysler plans to downsize in Kokomo as they will need a place to make transmissions.

Guess we should all be glad that Howard County and Kokomo were wise enough not to sink money into this plant. They lied to the city and county throughout the process two years ago and our officials saw through it. Tipton was so hungry for some good news that they risked it all and now see what they get...

Yeah let's see - how much can you get for an auto plant in an economy like this when for years the industry has had far too much capacity? Maybe Ford will buy it. Nope they have no money. Maybe GM will buy it. Nope they will be out of money by the end of the year. Maybe Toyota will buy it. Nope they are smarter than that. Maybe? Nope who wants to be in the middle of a corn field not on an interstate and surrounded by union radicals? Nope. No one. It will sit empty for the most part unless Tipton starts yet one more high tech incubator or industrial park. Pork indeed it is. Maybe Tipton can get in line for a federal bailout.
