Magazine article about (Delphi E&S President) Jeff Owens' house

Came across twitter today, don't remember seeing it here.

I'm not one to gripe about excess and executive pay. Delphi has a special place in my heart though, because of how they have shafted their salaried retirees.

I knew of Jeff years ago when he was busting his hump all over the Country and the World trying to sell Delco's products.

I'm not going to bust his chops over a nice house. He earned it.

People should bear in mind Jeff's feelings about DE Kokomo, and what the proud people there can do... are probably the only reason anything is left of the old Delco now.

A lesser guy would have let it die, IMO. Jeff never struck me as a quitter.

...however, his wife was rubbing it in the world's face! Please read her commentary!

I did read it, along with pictures of the fancy cat and a fluffy dog.

Jeff's wife was giving an upscale magazine what they wanted. The magazine's readership isn't exactly the same as the Kokomo Tribune...

I don't see how being proud of your home to an upscale rag is 'rubbing it in the world's face.'

I understand, but with the state of the economy it is just not right.
Who cares about an upscale magazine? You can not take it when you're gone.

Agreed. I figured the higher ups would move Jeff out of the way (since he's not a quitter).

Not sure what it has cost him $ and personal, but I don't think he's taken the easy route.

Gotta be a tough gig, for somebody who actually cares.

Lots of other folks busted their humps for that company. They earned it too.

It was taken away from them.

That's absolutely true, Lookout. Absolutely. The years of Battenberg and Miller took their toll on a once-great business.

Still, that takes nothing away from Jeff's hard work, does it?

    Default Jeff Owens home

Jeff did work hard but unfortunately, he led the division to where it is today and he kept his job. With greater responsibility comes even greater accountability and he and others in leadership failed. I personally believe if he makes his money in Kokomo he should live here. That used to be an unwritten rule for top level executives at Delco. No doubt he deserves a nice home but Jeff and his wife's decision to feature their story and home in a magazine after so many people who gave their lives to Delphi and now wonder if they will be in foreclosure or how they will be able to pay for insurance seems very insensitive and out of touch. Some things are best left private. To boast that it took 7 times to build the 'right' house is unbelievable. To buy all new furnishings for a home is even more ridiculous. I think his wife has too much time on her hands and money in her designer purse. This all seems very superficial and shallow to me. This article reflects poor judgement and points up how out of touch the Owens's are with the reality of the demise of Delphi and the impact on employees and the community.

Bah........you're all jealous of his good fortune.

He learned how to play the capitalist game as have all successful folks. They owe you nothing. He and others like him were born the same way you were; cold, wet, hungry, and naked.

Quit whining and get back into the mine! We have unhappy bankers, Wall Streeters, and share holders wanting more.
What’s the difference between liberals and puppies? Puppies stop whining when they grow up.
