Default Magazine article about Delphi E&S President Jeff Owens' house

    Stoner ...

The people I know (including myself) aren't jealous of Owens's "good fortune," they are disgusted by the lack of judgement exhibited by Owens and his wife in participating in the magazine feature when the community has been so severely impacted by the Delphi bankruptcy and continued reductions in force. Whether you like it or not, Jeff has been at the helm of Delphi E&S for quite some time and was the leader during the demise of the E&S division, and quite honestly nothing has changed. One would think his retention would be based on performance ... what other measure is there?

Granted, the magazine article was dumb. I agree.

I would offer that the evidence of Jeff's 'performance' is that DE Kokomo is still there AT ALL.

The man could have given up on Kokomo. He didn't.

Frankly, I'm surprised they haven't fired his $ss.

Reporters of any media can and usually do bend things. Magazine folks are no different. Owens and his wife may have been caught up in the moment. It was probably some silver tongued angelical talking interviewer with a sly camera.
What avenue does Owens have to refute? Or give his explanation of how he would or would not have done the "interview" differently? Perhaps it went off exactly as he desired?

As NIK has stated.....Its a wonder Delphi is in existence in any form. No matter who is/was at the helm. Its almost 3rd world compared to its yesteryear.

This wasn't a New York Times article! Like any decision, Owens should have thought out all the possible consequences FIRST. He came from rather humble beginnings here in Kokomo which should have helped him understand that publishing photos and a story about his good fortune when the company he leads is swirling down the toilet (and he still has his job and fantastic pay) is just poor judgement.

Jeff and Wendi placed their need for self aggrandizement over anything else. If these are decisions he makes in his personal life, one must wonder about decisions in his professional life that affect the company. Most employees would agree that he hasn't done an impressive job staying on top of engineering and other problems, keeping the books balanced, or providing solid leadership to the troops.

He's still there cuz he can play corporate politics quite well. And he takes the heat off the real players in this game. A sacrificial scapegoat if you will.
It must be working. There are a few in here that thinks its all his fault that Delphi is in the pits.
