Man, oh man Army you hit the nail on the head.************* CO's are looking for other jobs all the time. It used to be they wanted on the street but now that trend has changed. Maybe he needs to ask for some personal money for a cultural diversity or management class. Until he learns to be a top notch administrator like Major Rogers the department will continue to loose employees. Go figure the county stands to lose 600K a year and he wants to expand?!?!?!

We heard a lot of promises during his campaign and haven’t seen the matching results. His big plan to run HCSD like ISP has backfired big time, causing the deputies to turn their backs on the ideas he attempted to use and him as a person. This county is ready for a new Sheriff! One with insight into the real problems and a candidate who is approachable by the community and department. The ONLY thing that has kept the department afloat for the last six years is the guidance and leadership of Major Steve Rogers.

It's time to begin looking for Talberts replacement since 2010 is just around the corner. This county needs a top notch Sheriff who really want to help the community and department grow. The Sheriffs Department needs to be ran like a sheriffs department and not modeled after ISP or another agency......................
Hummmm, positive things, aaaahaa! He hired two road deputies that wanted to retire (YEAAAA) and made them a deal to become civilian employees and replaced them with two WORKING officers.

In June someone photo copied his picture and posted it in the urnals on a Saturday, it was great! I never seen so many people having to use the restroom. The last time that happened it was a Captains who made the "wet bullitin board", but the Captain changed and became a decent person. Some learn from their mistakes, other keep making them!

Good one Rich

When Rich makes sheriff I bet we dont see his photo in the "wet bulletin board". The department should be ran by people from the department that know how what wearing brown and doing the job is all about, excluding a recently retired deputy who wants to be sheriff ,LOL,LOL, LMAO!

I'll tell you what he's done. He passed out the most suspensions of any sheriff in howard county history. He should fire them instead of suspend them so his department could move forward.

Come on Marty thinks is ok for a married man to take his K9 truck and K9 out of state to have a internet fling. Its also ok to used the department car computer to access the DMV and get personal info on females. Its also ok to commit a battery on your girlfriends daughter or use department cars to sneek out of county, no problem this is accepted protocol on KPD and HCSD.

The department will not improve until his term is done and a new Sheriff takes the controls!

Seems to have been going on lately unless you're one of the pets! And a 9mm for heavens sake man get real and open your eyes, a lot of agencies went away from the 9 because of the lack of stopping power but there again it's the isp way or none at all. and the little committee that was put together was another nice tactic of smoke and mirrors.
I thing I have noticed is he does act like he's better than everyone else and makes employees feel that they are not important in the daily operation.

But the bad news is that a few who claim to be running and have questionable backgrounds and things could be the same way they are now.

The good news is the names of Dinardo, Ferguson and ISP Tarah have been mentioned and all three would be excellent choices to restore moral and credibility to the SD. I wish Steve Rogers would also consider running, because his expertise would be well received and appreciated by everyone who works for him. I know posters have mentioned Marty’s ISP fixation but not all troopers like that. Any of the four above would be dedicated to HCSD, the employees, our community and a breath of fresh air.

The great part of this was he was in the jail wandering around while this was getting water logged. This was the funnest thing that happened since he made office. Ahh yes, things that have made his short SD career memoral for us. LMAO
