NIK -- why are you dissapointed? Did you call or email and ask Wyman and ask him to join your forum?
I will admit I did not call or email him. If you can provide me an email address, I will ask.

Poster, I am well aware that (even though politicos and reporters might deny it) there are 12,000 people a month (many from Kokomo) who read this forum. I am also aware many of those same politicos and reporters are among our most fervent readers.

Paul undoubtedly knows there is a discussion going on here concerning his candidacy. I think our group would welcome and appreciate his input.

As I understand it Wyman went to Howard Haven and was asking questions surrounding the hiring of Trine's son. The story was given to the Perspective by those close to Wyman and Goodnight and is part of a concentrated effort on the part of the Perspective to promote Wyman and attack Trine. The Perspective has made it clear that those willing to advertise will not only be promoted but they will write negative stories about their opponents.
Interestingly, Trine went to the Council meeting last night and asked each Council member if they had a problem with his son working at Howard Haven and not one raised an objection including Wyman.

I must be very dense. What is wrong with Trine's son working at Howard Haven ? Who said or reported that Wyman questioned anyone at Howard Haven about the son or what questions he asked ?

Wyman always talks about less county employees but everytime an office holder comes to the committee he's on that allows the office holders to replace personnel he has always replaced them, unless you work for the maintenance department. The County could have down sized in several offices by not allowing them to refill the position. So it looks like he is talking out of both sides of his mouth.

It is also true that Wyman went to Howard Haven to inquire as to Trine's son. By the way Trine's son earns $8.00 per hour and works 3 days a week.

The perspective has told Trine that they will be backing Wyman and writing tons of articles about how bad a person Trine is because Wyman has promised to spend money in their free paper.

Again I ask, where is the problem ? They are a not for profit organization doing good for the community. Is it because the Board of Commissioners have oversight ? Is it because Wyman is listed as one with oversight ? Did he force Howard Haven to hire his son by using some threat ? Does he get kickbacks from the $8 per hour job ?

Sorry, so far it just sounds like political bashing for someone you consider against your candidate.

Wyman was responsible for the article, by pressuring the KP(rag paper) to write the article. Bobby Trine is a special boy, an old soul who fits in with the people at Howard Haven. It is travesty for Mr. Wyman to even go there, especially since his buddy Goodnight has hired numerous family members. When are they going to do a story on this? Goodnight gave his brother a promotion to foreman, when he had been suspended in a previous administration for things that are not worthy of a promotion. He appointed his step-father as director at Central Garage and appointed him to the Board of Works when he was elected and recently his step-father quit. Have any of you read anything about a step-father stepping down? Didn't think so. He also hired his sister-in-law, who used to work for Boan Vista, at the Senior Center with the First City Rider. He also gave his sister-in-law's mother a political appointment as Director at the Daycare. Since it closed, he made sure she remained employed and just transferred her to another office. He gave his son a job with KGov and he was on camera on the local channel numerous times. So why is anyone talking about a boy with special needs working three days a week, when Goodnight is abusing the system to the max?

    Sounds like politics as usual.

What do you call a paper or publisher who allows articles favoring a candidate with the most money to spend with that a paper? Money doesn't buy elections in today's political arena. Perfect example is McKillip. He was running full page ads and had tons of money and he was beat 2-1. Goodnight spent all kinds of money with the paper and although he won, he received very few votes (do the math on how much he spent per vote, laughable!), because people do not vote in this town. Trine had very little money when he ran and won and received more votes in the city than Goodnight received in the city election. The voters need to send a message, money will not buy your vote and the local media does an injustice to the people in this community. I would expect them to do a story during the election cycle for the city election pertaining to Goodnight and nepotism. Let's not forget his mother worked in voter's registration during the election. His uncle is on the election board. His cousin's wife is or was the secretary of the election board. Then ask him about all the family and extended family he has appointed or hired.

NIK, these are important issues. Not attacking someone personally, but by their actions as an officeholder.

Paul Wyman has not publicly criticized Dave Trine for his son being hired to work part-time at Howard Haven. The only one critical of Trine for hiring his son is the kokomo perspective. There is a front page article this week that attempts to make Trine look bad. The point I think the previous poster was making is that it appears that Wyman has bought positive coverage for himself and negative coverage for Trine. Whether or not this is true has yet to be seen. But based on the last couple of weeks it does look like the perspective is favoring Wyman.
