So the reality is that this is just like the liberal news media you complain about. You can easily slant the topics to how NIK wants them to run. Sounds fair to me!
But the real issue I have is how one sided everyone in this country have become. You complain that Obama/Pelosi/Sotomayer are trampling our freedoms (which may be true) but are reluctant to realize that they were trampled on by our last President too. The only difference is that they used the belief that terrorists were going to bring our country down if we didn't abide by what they passed. See my belief is that people have lost the ability to think critically. We have become so partisan that if a Democrat makes a move, a Republican automatically cuts it down. If a Republican brings up an idea, a Democrat will bash it and call it worthless. Neither side has the ability to step back and see what their own party are doing. The parties themselves have turned into one permanent campaign to degrade the other party in order to pass their agenda. They do not run on ideas and actions but on marketing and persuasion. They get on the news and tell the American public that the other sides ideas are trash but never come up with a viable plan of their own.
I don't understand how members of either party can be so strongly sided that they fail to see that both sides are guilty of the same misinformation and deceit. We continue to elect the same members of Congress who have continued to spend our money, trample our freedoms, and ignore the problems feeding America. All the while they point the finger at the opposite party and say they are bad for America.
The government does not need to come in and shut down this website, newspaper, tv station because they have learned a better trick. They know that the people do not have time to research the major issues facing this country. By the time someone works 8 + hours, cooks dinner, takes the kids to sport practice, makes sure homework is completed, gets the kids in bed, looks over their own bills and takes care of their own household that there is no time to spend caring if a cap and trade energy bill will reduce carbon emissions. So they get on tv and spout propaganda how this person is against America or how a piece of legislature will make your children suffer in the future, pretty much scaring everyone into believing they are right. All the while, I never hear them present a viable plan. Thus they have used the media as a way to manipulate the public's thinking. All I am looking for is facts. If the Democrats say the cap and trade will add $175 to your energy bill in 5 years, tell me how you came up with that number. If Republicans say that they are not using all the facts and have fudged the numbers, tell me how you came up with a different number. I am intelligent enough to figure it out, but I have a busy life and can't spend hours mulling over all this.
Then, for example if the Democrat proposed a piece of legislation to fix the economy, someone who did his homework and knows that it won't work gets labeled and a right wing nut job who is for the wealthy and hates the middle class. If they agree with the piece of legislature, then the right will come out and scream that they are liberals who wants a government official in every home to make sure you are not getting to wealthy so we can spread it around. So even if someone can provide factual information on how or how not it will affect the economy, it doesn't matter because they are automatically branded. Then half the population ignores that person because they are "the other side". So those of us with busy lives continue to turn on Fox News or MSNBC and have them think for us and tell us how horrible the other side is running this country.
Yes Barack Obama is spending way to much money for a stimulus that isn't working(Congress can stop that if they want), Yes Barack Obama is pushing through cap and trade that will do nothing to stop carbon emissions while causing an increase in energy (Congress can stop that if they want), Yes George Bush used false information to lead us into a war that has lasted 6 years (Congress could have stopped that if they wanted), Yes George Bush bailed out the banks and AIG with no accountability.
The biggest problem is that you have all the Republicans in this country saying that Barack Obama is wrong and shouldn't be spending money and the Democrats are saying its necessary. But not one of them truly knows why they believe it except that they are just following their parties. If George Bush did what Barack Obama is doing now, every Republican would be on tv saying it is necessary for our economy and the Democrats would be screaming how the Republicans are damaging our future.
The best thing we can do as citizens is to look past what party they are and take a critical eye to each issue. For once in your life, use your own mind to make a decision instead of what your "party" says is correct. I for one will never support one party or the other any longer. Not while Republicans and Democrats continue to talk out of both sides of their mouths.
